While I was glad to see that the revised school district parking plans spared my property, and others by reducing the size of the proposed parking lots, the district still plans to spend millions of dollars and destroy over a dozen homes to create hundreds of unneeded parking spaces.
It is disturbing that while Brainerd, and most other cities, are looking at 21st century transportation options that save money by reducing dependence on motor vehicles, the school district is decades behind the times, focused on huge, expensive parking lots that we now know do nothing for safety, and destroy huge chunks of neighborhoods. Imagine how much the district could do to help educate our children with the millions they want to spend on parking.
