To make maple syrup, gather lots of very thin, light sap from maple trees. Boil it down. Add more sap. Continue doing this until you boil down 40 gallons of sap into 1 gallon of syrup, really concentrating it.
This is the same technique humans use on themselves and each other. They/we take a little ignorance, boil it down, add more ignorance, boil some more. Eventually when enough ignorance is concentrated we have conservatism (sometimes the Republican Party in the U.S.). All made with lots of sap.

The young woman who sang the anthem at the last inauguration has a sister who is transgender! Transgender people go through hell growing up that most of us ignorant 'normal' people can't begin to comprehend. And this young singer honored someone who has now, with a crazy stroke of his pen, made her sister's life and millions of other lives, more difficult.
For what? Some people are afraid someone might dress up like the opposite sex, just so they can peep in? Well, that reveals the way their own minds work; that's what they'd do. Does anyone think that having laws restricting transgenders, one way or another, prevents anyone from dressing up anyway?

Transgender people by definition have seen both of the two varieties that human bodies come in, so it's not a big deal for them. If you're a male, or a female, you're just not that unique. Get over it. Don't let religions shame you over your own body.
Our Euro-Christian culture is so childish and immature about our bodies and sexuality. We need to grow up. We're hurting people left, and right.
