A recent opinion stated that the military gets more than we originally signed up for. I spent over 20 years on active duty in the Army and can say that I definitely received and continue to receive more than I originally signed up for. With that said, Mr. Anderson, let me share some of the things we received that we did not necessarily sign up for.

The military sent many of us around the world and gave us the chance to stay away from our family for extended periods of time in countries that hated us.

We were allowed to see and do things that most people will never want to experience. Many of those times, we never really knew when we were coming home. But most importantly most of us did not originally sign up to receive mental and physical scars. Yes, we got more than we signed up for.

I have sat back over the past couple of years reading your opinions in the paper Mr. Anderson. I am not sure what you have against veterans but I am certainly tired of your rants. You have the constitutional right to say what you want because of the blood shed by my fellow veterans. Unless you served in the military you have no right to tell people that we get more then we "originally signed up for"!
