WNBA: Lynx's Fowles Western Conference Player of Week


MINNEAPOLIS—The WNBA on Monday named Minnesota Lynx center Sylvia Fowles the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played May 14-21.

The award is Fowles' sixth of her career and first with the Lynx.
The Lynx ended Opening Week as the league's only 3-0 team, opening a half-game lead on Los Angeles atop the WNBA standings. In three games played during the week, Fowles averaged 21.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. She shot 57.5 percent from the floor (23-for-40) and 76.0 percent from the line (19-for-25) while collecting a pair of double-doubles to increase her career total to 109 (third in league history).
The Lynx play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, against Connecticut at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The game will be on ESPN2.
