TAYLOR FALLS — Maddie Kalenberg and Gaven Hoelzel were the top-finishers for the Brainerd Warriors who finished first and third respectively in the girls and boys races out of 25 teams at the Wild Mountain Invitational Friday, Dec. 20.
“Our teams had a history making day with our girls team winning this event for the first time against a field of 25 other teams, almost entirely from the metro area,” said Brainerd head coach Jim Ruttger. “Our boys, who won this event for the first time last year, finished third out of that same field despite having two of our top three seeds fall.”
Kalenberg placed 11th with a combined time of 1:15.92 for her two runs. She posted the eighth fastest time on her second run. Following her in scoring for Brainerd were Emma Hiebert (13th), Cassidy Chaney (18th) and Erin Hoelzel (28th).
Hoezel clocked a 1:12.75 for the two runs that placed him 12th. Esten Hiebert was right on his heels in 13th followed by Max Darkow (21st) and Anthony Elsenpeter (26th).
