Alpine Skiing: Hiebert, Hoelzel highlight Mount Ski Gull event

LAKE SHORE -- Esten Hiebert and Erin Hoelzel were the king and queen of the hill at the Northland Junior Race Series Sunday, Jan. 26, at Mount Ski Gull.

Hiebert posted the fastest boys time with a 47.36 to win the boys 16-and-over division. Hoelzel clocked the fastest girls time with a 48.83 to win the girls 16-and-over.

The Ski Gull team landed 30 athletes on the podium in its home event.

Elliot Noskowiak won the boys 5-and-under and Sean Baumann captured the boys 14-15 division.

Bella McKinney was the fastest girl in the 8-9 division with Cecelya Rasinski in second. Amanda Trusty (14-15) and Moxie Lou Steffen-Burton (5-under) also placed second.


There were 128 athletes from Duluth, Mount du Lac, Lutsen, Giants Ridge and Detroit Mountain.
