LUTSEN-Alex Stone placed third and Grant Kosobud fifth for the Brainerd Warriors in their first meet of the season at the Cook County Invitational Friday.
Brainerd finished second behind Cook County on both sides in the team competition.
"The only patch of white we saw all day was at Lutsen, it was really weird driving up there," said Brainerd head coach Jim Ruttger. "Most of the other teams decided not to come, so it was just Brainerd and Cook, which was probably good for not tearing up the course."
Emily Aga was fourth, Ashley Fitterer seventh and Grace McGuire ninth to round out the scoring for the Brainerd girls.
Finishing behind Kosobud were Tristan Elsenpeter in sixth place, Garett Lee ninth and Nick Krantz 10th.

"Both sides (boys and girls) were really tentative today, but their second runs were better than their first," said Ruttger. "That's indicative of the fact that we haven't had any time on snow here yet this year. We really haven't had a practice here this year and for a lot of the kids, it was their first time on snow this year."
