Waterville and Arlington will be the opposition when the Brainerd Braves and Fort Ripley Rebels play in the Class C amateur baseball state tournament Saturday in Sleepy Eye.

Waterville, champion of Region 4C, plays Fort Ripley at 5 p.m. Arlington, runner-up to Waterville, meets the Braves at 7:30 p.m.
Waterville (25-3) is led by left-handed pitcher Doug Harmon (8-0, 1.84 ERA) and shortstop Mike Niemczyk (.548 average). Other top players are first baseman Mike Kinniry (nine home runs), right fielder Joe Grose (.466) and third baseman Terry Schultz who has hit nine home runs and is 5-0 on the mound.
Left-handed pitcher Matt Magers, a draftee from Gaylord, played in the Chicago Cubs' organization. Waterville second baseman Jeff Boran is the son of Noel Boran of Brainerd. His brothers include Mike Boran, a Brainerd teacher/coach, and David Boran, a Brainerd physician. His sister is Connie Nelson, director of the Early Childhood Family Education program in Brainerd.
A member of the 1360 League, Waterville has hit 50 home runs and carries a .345 team average. Sixteen of its 25 wins were in seven innings.
Arlington is led by right-hander Mac Zachow, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound draftee from Gaylord. He was 4-for-7 with a home run in the region final series against Waterville.
Left fielder Chad Dose and center fielder Will Hoosline were both 4-for-10 for Arlington in the region final series.
