UPSALA — Riley Voit went 2-5 with a double and three RBIs in Avon’s 6-5 win over the Sobieski Skis in the Region 8C Tournament Championship Game Sunday, Aug. 15.

Sobieski scored two runs in the top of the ninth for a late rally. Avon got out of a bases-loaded jam to preserve the win and the championship in the ninth.

Matt Pichelmann earned the win and pitched eight innings. Cody Stich got the save and got the three outs in the ninth.

Sobieski's Beau Hanowski collected four hits while Ben Hanowski tallied three hits.

Josh Wenzel hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning for the Skis.

Foley 6, Buckman 2

UPSALA — Ean VonWald blasted a home run for Foley in its 6-2 win over Buckman Saturday, Aug. 14, to punch a ticket into the Class C state tournament.

Ryan Chmielewski was the winning pitcher and struck out 10 in seven innings. Chmielewski also ripped a double and scored two runs.

Drew Beier went 3-3 with an RBI and two walks for the Lumberjacks as well. Beier earned the save and pitched two innings with four strikeouts and one hit allowed.

Lane Girtz led Buckman with three hits. Noah Boser went 2-4 with an RBI for the Billygoats.

Austin Dickman started for Buckman and pitched eight innings with four strikeouts.

St. Stephen 4, Fort Ripley 3

UPSALA — Mathew Meyer went 2-4 with a double and an RBI for St. Stephen in its 4-3 win over Fort Ripley Saturday, Aug. 14 to earn a spot in the Class C State Tournament Saturday, Aug. 14.

Chris Belling pitched four innings of relief and struck out three for the win.

Meyer’s double came in the seventh inning and tied the game 3-3. He came around to score on an error to make it 4-3.

Ben Omann recorded a triple for St. Stephen.

Bryce Flanagan started for Fort Ripley and pitched seven innings and struck out seven.

Nick Jelacie and Zach Heidmann each tallied three hits for Fort Ripley. Josh Kossan tallied two hits.

UPSALA — Luis Massa went 3-3 with a double and a home run in Foley's 13-1 win over St. Stephen to secure third place in the Region 8C Tournament Sunday, Aug. 15.

Tyler Midas also blasted a home run for the Lumberjacks.

Alex Foss pitched the win and struck out eight in 4.2 innings.

Mathew Meyer ripped a solo home run for St. Stephen’s only run.
