Amateur Baseball: Buckman remains unbeaten in Victory League

BUCKMAN--Shawn Lanners pitched seven solid innings and Matt Kummet homered sending the unbeaten Buckman Billygoats to an 11-5 win over the Royalton Riverdogs in Victory League action Thursday, July 5.

Lanners allowed one run on two hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Andrew Rueckert and Aaron Weber each pitched an inning for the Billygoats who are 12-0.

Kummet belted a pinch-hit solo home run in the bottom of the eighth. Joe Kahl was 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBIs and a run scored for Buckman.

Buckman's Aaron Weber was 3-4 with a double, stolen base, RBI and three runs. Mark Kahl, Travis Kahl and Rueckert each had two hits for the Billygoats. Noah Cekalla collected his first Victory League hit and played the entire game at second base.

Adam Snyder was 2-5 with a run for Royalton (1-11).

Both teams play Saturday, July 7, with the Riverdogs hosting the Pierz Brewers in a must-win game for Royalton while Buckman will host Lastrup in a showdown for the East Division pennant.
