FORT RIPLEY-Logan Kalis went 5-for-5 with a pair of doubles and drove in seven runs for the Fort Ripley Rebels who qualified for a return trip to the Region 8C Tournament with a seven-inning, 16-0, win over the Cuyuna Range Miners Saturday, July 21, in a North Division elimination game.

The Rebels played Nisswa Sunday, July 22, for the North Division championship with a second game immediately afterward if necessary. The top two teams from each division advance to the region tournament.

Middle reliever Luke Weber was credited with the win after going two hitless innings and striking out four. He joined starter Ethan Branum and Zach Heidmann in tossing a three-hit shutout. Weber also finished 3-4 at the plate with a stolen base and three runs scored.

Brian Skluzacek was the only other Rebel with multiple hits including a double and Mack Brink also doubled.

Nick Maslowski doubled for the Miners who also got hits from Lance Herbst and Ben Jordan.

East Division

The Pierz Bulldogs and Buckman Billygoats were scheduled to resume a game suspended by rain Friday, July 20, at Pierz at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 22. The winner played at Lastrup at 4 p.m. Sunday with two games if necessary to determine the East playoff champion.

South/West divisions

The St. Stephen Steves beat the Freeport Black Sox 8-6 and the Upsala Blue Jays beat the Randall Cubs 3-0 Saturday, July 21.

St. Stephen was scheduled to play at Avon at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 22, with two games if necessary to determine the South playoff champion.

Upsala was scheduled to play at Sobieski at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 22, with two games if necessary to determine the West champion.
