JORDAN - Paul Herman ripped a two-out, walk-off home run in the bottom of
the 12th Saturday to lift the Lastrup Lakers to a 6-5 win over the
Owatonna Aces in the second round of the Class C state tournament
Saturday.
All four teams from Region 8 have advanced to the Sweet 16 of the 48-team

single elimination tournament next weekend in Jordan and Belle Plaine.
Joining Lastrup in the third round are Nisswa, Fort Ripley and Sobieski.
Owatonna built a 3-0 lead before the Lakers were able to counter with four
runs in the bottom of the sixth. A walk, four singles and a double by
Dustin Schmaltz put Lastrup on the board.
Nate Janson led off the seventh with a walk and scored on Rick Schlieman's
second double of the game.
Reggie Litke took the mound in the top of the eighth relieving Kyle

Collins and surrendered two runs that tied the game before settling down
to retire the final 13 batters he faced to pick up the win. Collins started the
game retiring the first nine batters he faced, including five straight
strikeouts.
Herman finished 3-7 with the home run and Schlieman was 2-4 with the pair
of doubles. Litke and Weiss both contributed two hits.
The Lakers improve to 16-8 and have won eight of their last nine games.
