Amateur Baseball: Nisswa clinches North Division

NISSWA--Chris Pederson went 3-3 with a double and drove in two runs for the Nisswa Lightning who clinched the North Division title with a 11-0 seven-inning win over the Aitkin Steam Sunday.

Starter Kevin Smith earned the win striking out seven and allowing just two hits over six innings. Brett Jenkins allowed one hit in an inning of relief.

Jeremiah Piepkorn homered for Nisswa. Brett Jenkins had a pair of hits and Morgan Shephard contributed a double.

Drew Nordean collected two hits for Aitkin and Sam Peterson accounted for the other hit.

With the win, the Lightning are guaranteed a berth in the Region C Tournament and the No. 1 seed for the division playoffs. They will face No. 4 Aitkin again 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Nisswa in the first round.

FLENSBURG-The Flensburg Falcons tallied four runs in the bottom of the 17th inning to defeat the Aitkin Steam Saturday in the resumption of a suspended game.

Aitkin plated three runs in the top of the 17th to go ahead 4-2 only to see the Falcons rally for the win with two outs in the bottom of the stanza.
