Amateur Baseball: Pierz picks off Royalton

ROYALTON -- Andy Leidenfrost ripped a three-run double in a four-run first inning for the Pierz Bulldogs, who defeated the Royalton Riverdogs 7-3 in the East Division play-in game Sunday.

ROYALTON - Andy Leidenfrost ripped a three-run double in a four-run first inning for the Pierz Bulldogs, who defeated the Royalton Riverdogs 7-3 in the East Division play-in game Sunday.

The Bulldogs become the No. 4 seed and will play at No. 1 Buckman in the opening round of the division playoffs 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Nick Herold added a two-run double in the third to make it 6-0 Pierz. The Bulldogs tallied their final run on an RBI double by Teddy Dehler in the fifth.

Kolton Eischens earned the win tossing 5.2 shutout innings in relief for starter David Skiba.

Jon Hanson finished 3-5 for the Bulldogs, while Craig Luberts, Herold and Leidenfrost contributed two hits each.
