Amateur Baseball: Roepke, Nisswa power past Opole

OPOLE -- Jason Roepke pitched a complete game and went 3-5 at the plate with a home run in an 8-3 non-division win for the Nisswa Lightning over the Opole Bears Sunday, June 30.

Roepke shut the Bears down for the final six innings after he gave up three runs in the first three innings. He struck out four, walked one and allowed 11 hits.

Logan McElfresh finished 2-3 with a double for Nisswa and Sam Peterson was 3-5. Drew Boland and Morgan Shepherd each singled twice and Brett Jenkins doubled.

Bulldogs 5, Brewers 4

PIERZ -- Brandon Dickmann delivered a game-winning, walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning for the Pierz Bulldogs who edged the Pierz Brewers 5-4 in an East Division game Sunday, June 30.

Logan Meyer went 4-4 with a double for the Bulldogs and was the winning pitcher as he tossed the final two innings in relief of starter Austin Dickmann. Austin Dickmann struck out seven, walked three and allowed three runs on six hits over eight innings.

Dylan Kummet finished 3-4 for the Bulldogs and Chuck Boser contributed a double.

Alvin Kimman had two hits for the Brewers who scattered eight singles amongst seven different batters.

Bulldogs 11, Royalton 1

PIERZ -- The Pierz Bulldogs won their second game of the day behind a solid performance on the mound from Joe Strauch as they defeated the Royalton Riverdogs 11-1 in an East Division game Sunday, June 30.

Strauch struck out four, walked four and allowed four hits over seven innings.

The Bulldogs’ Ryan Foreman went 3-4 and drove in three runs. Austin Dickmann and Michael Leidenfrost each singled twice.

Sobieski 13, Lakers 1

SOBIESKI -- Dan Marod belted a pair of home runs and collected five RBIs for the Sobieski Skis who overpowered the Pierz Lakers 13-1 in seven innings Sunday, June 30, in non-division play.

Tyler Jendro and Austin Weisz also blasted home runs for the Skis, who scored all 13 runs in the first four innings.

Riley Hirsch and Matt Baier both went 3-4 for Sobieski. Winning pitcher Scott Litchy, Jendro and Marod had two hits apiece.

Preston Rocheleau went 2-3 for Pierz and scored the Lakers only run.

Lakers 14, Royalton 2

ROYALTON -- The Pierz Lakers bounced back from their earlier loss to Sobieski and defeated the Royalton Riverdogs 14-2 in seven innings Sunday, June 30, in East Division play.

It was the second, seven-inning loss of the day for the Riverdogs. Further details were not available.
