PIERZ -- Jeremiah Piepkorn belted a pair of homers, a double, drove in three runs and scored four times for the Nisswa Lightning who opened the Region 8C tournament with a 13-3 victory in eight innings over the Randall Cubs Saturday, July 27.
Aaron Jenkins also homered and doubled for the Lightning. He went 3-4 with two RBIs. Drew Boland added a two-run blast while Adam Hardy and Sam Peterson contributed doubles.
Jason Roepke earned the win. He struck out three, didn’t walk a batter, and allowed all three runs and seven hits over seven innings.

PIERZ -- Ethan Branum tossed a four-hit, complete game shutout for the Fort Ripley Rebels who defeated the Upsala Blue Jays 7-0 in the opening round of the Region 8C tournament Saturday, July 27.
He struck out four, walked one and hit one batter.

Brett Kramer led the Rebels offensively. He went 2-3 with a home run, a triple, three RBIs and scored three runs. Logan Kalis collected two hits and Brian Sckluzacek added a double.
The win advanced Fort Ripley to a Sunday game with the Avon Lakers in the winners bracket.

PIERZ -- Bo Schmitz ripped a double and a home run and Tony Schmitz delivered a two-run shot to lead in the St. Stephen Steves past the Pierz Bulldogs in an opening round game of the Region 8C tournament Saturday, July 27.
Chuck Boser cranked a two-run homer to lead the Bulldogs. Ryan Foreman contributed a double and Austin Dickmann singled twice.
The loss dropped the Bulldogs into an elimination game with the Randall Cubs Sunday.

PIERZ -- Matt Pichelmann struck out six, walked none, and scattered seven hits in a complete game performance to lead the Avon Lakers past the Buckman Billygoats Saturday, July 27 in the opening round of the Region 8C tournament.
Noah Boser was the only player for Buckman with multiple hits. His seventh-inning solo homer temporarily tied the game 2-2.
Buckman played Upsala in an elimination game Sunday.
