HIBBING - Cloquet's Mason Brener struck out two, walked one and gave up six hits, but only allowed one Aitkin run and got lots of support leading to a 14-1 Section 7-2A championship victory over the Gobblers Thursday.
The Lumberjacks cut open a 4-1 first-inning lead and added two runs in the second, four in the third and four in the fourth to end the game after 4 ½ innings.
Aitkin's Drew Nordean finished 2-3. Dylan Quade was 2-2 and Jake Lynn and Jacob Hyytinen collected Aitkin's other two hits. Hyytinen drove in Jake Westerlund for the Gobblers lone run.
Aitkin finishes the season 19-6.
