Area Baseball: Flyers silence the Thunder

ZIMMERMAN--A.J. Jenks crushed a home run and added one double with four RBIs for the Little Falls Flyers in a 13-3 Granite Ridge Conference victory over the Zimmerman Thunder Tuesday.

Sam Nagel pitched the win. He struck out four, walked three and allowed three earned runs on four hits. He also hit a two-run double.

Joe Alholm went 2-3 with an RBI and two runs and Jacob Kapphahn drove in three runs and scored three times himself.

Mason Dempsey went 2-2 with three runs

AITKIN-Kyle Cluff went 3-4 with a double, an RBI and scored twice for the Aitkin Gobblers in an 8-3 win over the Pine City Dragons Tuesday in a Section 7-2A matchup.

Carter Dox and Carter Olson also doubled for the Gobblers and Jeremy Blazek contributed a triple.

Aitkin broke open a 3-2 game with five runs in the bottom of the sixth on five singles and a double by Olson

Pierz sweeps BBE

BELGRADE-Jack Suska went a combined 5-for-7 with two doubles and one RBI as the Pierz Pioneers swept the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars 9-1, 2-0 in a Central Minnesota Conference doubleheader Tuesday.

Peter Schommer and Isaac Otte each went 2-for-3 with a double in Game Two.

Austin Dickmann struck out five and allowed one run on two hits and three walks for the 9-3 Pioneers.

Reese Kapsner was 2-3 with three RBIs and Schommer went 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs in Game One.

Preston Rocheleau struck out six, walked two and allowed two hits in his Game Two shutout.

VERNDALE-Owen Korfe struck out four, walked none and scattered three hits to pitch the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders to a 15-1 Park Region Conference win over the Menahga Braves Tuesday.

Seven of BHV's 10 hits went for extra bases led by Josh Bounds, who went 3-3 with three doubles and three RBIs. Mack Jones drove in four runs with a pair of doubles while Korfe and Adam Bauch contributed lone doubles.

Justin Dykoff pitched the victory with six strikeouts. He allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits and one walk for the 12-1 Wolverines.
