PILLAGER — Logan Olson and Joey Simonson combined to no hit the Pillager Huskies in a 15-1 non-conference victory for the Aitkin Gobblers Thursday, April 15.
Olson pitched the first three innings. He struck out six and allowed one earned run. Simonson also struck out six over four innings of work.
Hunter Hills finished 2-3 with a double, two walks and three runs scored. Anton Kalk was 1-1 with a double and two RBIs. Landon Janzen finished 1-3 with two runs and a walk. Jake Ince was 1-4 with two runs, an RBI and a walk. Caden Kjelstrom drove in a run and scored twice on three walks and Hunter Nissen also walked three times and scored three times. He also posted a hit.
Cole Hiltner scored Pillager’s lone run and Gabe Grimsley walked.

PIERZ — Zach Gwost drove in two runs and Spencer Friese pitched the win as the Little Falls Flyers doubled up the Pierz Pioneers for a 6-3 Granite Ridge Conference victory Thursday, April 15.
Gwost pitched 2.2 innings and allowed three runs on four hits and three walks. He struck out four. Friese pitched two innings. He allowed just one hit.
Dane Couture was 2-3 with a double, run and an RBI and Austin Neu was 2-3 with two runs scored for the Flyers.
Pierz’s Jeremy Bingesser was 2-2 with two runs driven in. Ryan Stuckmayer was 1-2 with two runs and a double. Kamden Happke was 2-4 with an RBI.

PINE RIVER — Ryder Compton threw a one-hitter and the Pine River-Backus Tigers scored a Northwoods Conference sweep of Lake of the Woods 11-0, 6-4 Thursday, April 15.
Compton struck out seven and allowed one hit and two walks in the season opener.
Owen Carlson was 2-2 with a double, two runs and two walks as PRB managed just four hits, but scored 11 runs on seven walks. Rian Struss was 1-1 with two runs, an RBI and two walks.
In Game Two, Nolan Olivier went 2-3 with two runs. Struss was 2-2 with a run and an RBI and Corbin Knapp was 2-2 with a double, run and two RBIs. Dalton Middendorf also drove in two runs for PRB.
Trevor Redding pitched the complete-game victory. He struck out nine and allowed four runs on three hits and six walks.
