Area Baseball: Patriots hand Osakis its first loss

OSAKIS--Austin Meister went 2-3 with a triple, a home run, two stolen bases and three runs for the Pequot Lakes Patriots to defeat previously unbeaten Osakis 15-7 Friday in a non-conference contest.

Dylan Messenbrink ripped a two-RBI triple for the Patriots, who collected doubles from Cameron Anderson, Marcus Klein and Josh Lewica.

Sam Pfeiffer, Zach Sjoblad, Klein, Mesenbrink, Anderson and Lelwica all had multiple hits.

Starter Cameron Anderson earned the win striking out five and walking four over five innings. He allowed three runs and four hits.

The Patriots are now 8-0, while Osakis drops to 6-1.

Pillager wins 2

MENAHGA-Joe Anderson went 5-9 on the day with two doubles, a triple, home run, five RBIs and was the winning pitcher in Game Two for the Pillager Huskies who swept the winless Menahga Braves 6-0 and 11-8 in a Park Region Conference doubleheader Friday.

Ty Swenson pitched a complete, two-hit shutout, striking out four and walking four in the first game for Pillager. Sam Jensen was 2-3 with a home run and Braeden Wangsness was 2-3 with a triple. Judah Beard was 3-3 and Bo Kruchten added two hits.

In Game Two, Josh Doss added a home run. Shane Evenson went 2-3 with a double, Swenson was 2-2 with a double and Wangsness finished 2-2 with four runs scored.

SEBEKA-Preston Warren went 4-5 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a double to lead the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines to a 15-4 Park Region Conference victory over the Sebeka Trojans Friday.

Noah Ross, Jake Dykhoff and Colby Schertler also recorded doubles for W-DC.

Isaac Witthuhn went 3-4 with three RBIs pushing W-DC's win streak to six straight.

HINCKLEY-Kyle Cluff and Jacob McCormick contributed doubles leading to four Aitkin runs in the fifth, but it wasn't enough, as the Gobblers fell 21-4 to Esko at the Hinckley-Finlayson Tournament Friday.

Esko scored all of its runs in the first three innings including 12 in the second.

Quin Miller finished 2-2 for Aitkin.
