Area Baseball: Patriots pick up 11-0 win

Eight area teams hit the diamond Thursday, April 22


PILLAGER —Pequot Lakes’ Andrew Villareal was 2-4 with three RBIs, two runs and a double as the Patriots shutout the Pillager Huskies 11-0 Thursday, April 22.

Nic Kotaska pitched five innings throwing five strikeouts for the Patriots. Alex Morgan was 2-4 with an RBI and two runs.

Tyler Skeesick was 1-2 for the Pillager Huskies.

MORA — Pierz’s Michael Leidenfrost was 3-4 with three runs, three RBIs and a double as the Pioneers shutout the Mora Mustangs 17-0 Thursday, April 22, in a Granite Ridge Conference game.

Kamden Happke also registered a double for the Pioneers.

Noah Cekalla pitched four innings with nine strikeouts, allowing only two hits.

KELLIHER — Pine River-Backus’s Rian Struss was 3-3 with three runs and six RBIs, including a double, for the Tigers in a 28-9 Northland Conference win Thursday, April 22 against Kelliher/Northome.


Ryder Compton was also 3-3 with one run and three RBIs for the Tigers.

Compton earned the win with six strikeouts allowing five hits for four innings.
