Area Baseball: Patriots sweep Park Rapids

Three area baseball teams hit the diamond Monday, May 3


PARK RAPIDS — Pequot Lakes’ Sam Rysavvy was 5-5 with three double, four runs and five RBIs as the Patriots battled for a 13-11 win in Game One of a Mid-State Conference doubleheader over the Park Rapids Panthers Monday, May 3.

In Game Two, Clay Erickson was 1-2 with two RBIs for the Patriots as they beat the Panthers 5-4.

Nic Kotaska was 1-1 with two runs and Caden Nelson struck out three in five innings. He allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits and two walks.

In Game One, Erik Larsen, Andrew Villareal, Cole Trottier and Grant Loge all collected two hits. Villareal and Loge scored twice and drove in a run.

Pierz 5, Minnewaska 0

PIERZ — Pierz’s Jonah Prokott struck out 10 batters over seven innings to record a 5-0 complete-game shutout over Minnewaska Monday, May 3.

Prokott allowed just three hits and one walk.

He helped his own cause by going 2-2 with a double, run, RBI and a walk.


Noah Cekalla was 2-3 with a triple, a run and two RBIs for the Pioneers.

STAPLES — Staples-Motley’s Sam Sauber recorded two hits for the Cardinals as they fell 13-8 to Pelican Rapids Monday, May 3.

Griffin Bettis threw three strikeouts while Hunter Martin registered a double.
