Ben Jones hit an RBI single in the first inning of Brainerd’s first game of the Gopher Classic in Waconia to put Brainerd up 3-0 Friday, July 12. The first game saw them score nine runs and beat Renner 9-2.
Michael Laber went 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Konnor Wicklund ripped an RBI double in the fifth inning which was the only extra base hit for Brainerd. As a team Brainerd had eight different players get a hit and eight different players record an RBI.
Broc Peterson pitched all seven innings and earned the win. He struck out six batters and allowed two runs on five hits.
In game two of the Gopher Classic, Peterson went 2-3 with two singles in Brainerd’s 4-0 loss to Waconia. Colby Watland started for Brainerd and pitched 4 1/3 innings and walked seven batters. He allowed four runs on four hits and struck out four batters. Renzen Caughey came on in relief and pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings and allowed two hits.
On Saturday, July 13, Mason Argir pitched a complete game shutout to help Brainerd beat Giantvalley 2-0. In his seven innings pitched Argir allowed five hits, walked four and struck out five.

Peterson went 3-3 with a double and a hit by pitch. Seth Vagts got the scoring started in the second inning with his RBI single that scored Watland. Colin Kleffman belted an RBI double in the seventh innings scoring Eli Roberts.
