Pierz's Matt Tautges and Lane Girtz and Austin Weisz of Little Falls were selected to the North All-Star team for the 43rd annual Play Ball! Minnesota High School Baseball All-Star Series, which will be played June 23-24 at Chaska Athletic Park.
Six teams-North, South, Metro North, Metro South, Metro East and Metro West-will play a round-robin series. One hundred and four of the best graduating seniors, from all four classes, representing 86 high schools, were invited to participate. Teams will practice June 22 and attend a banquet that night at Canterbury Park in Shakopee.
The three area players will be joined by John Aase (Proctor), Logan Aleshire and Trevor Koenig (St. Cloud Tech), Jordan Barth and William Huls (Rocori), Caleb Carlson and Jared Young (Bemidji), Travis Carruth (Hibbing), Josh Casavan (Red Lake County), Jake Dubla and Sam Laakso (Duluth East), Bjorn Hanson (Sauk Rapids), Andrew Johnson (Parkers Prairie), Peter Nelson (St. Cloud Apollo), Nathan Psych (Royalton), Beau Wilmer (Warroad), Noah Winkelman (Foley).
Coaches for the North team are Mike Beier of Foley and Scott Knutson of Warroad.
