ST. CLOUD — Nolan Cekalla pitched six innings and struck out six in the No. 4 Pierz Pioneers’ 1-0 loss to No. 2 Albany in the winner’s bracket final of the Section 6-2A tournament Monday, June 7, at Putz Field.

Pierz tallied three hits total and Albany picked up its lone run in the bottom of the third.

Albany swept the regular-season series with Pierz 3-0 April 29 and 7-5 May 26.

HINCKLEY — Irvin Tulenchik and Nolan Olivier each tallied hits as the West No. 3 seeded Pine River-Backus Tigers lost to East No. 1 seeded Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars 10-0 in the Section 5-1A loser’s bracket Monday, June 7.

Tulenchik started for PRB and struck out three in 2.1 innings. The Tigers finish their season 17-7.
