Area Baseball: Pillager storms to subsection championship
DEER CREEK--Tyler Wilcox went 1-for-2 with a grand slam and drove in five runs for the No. 5-seeded Pillager Huskies during their 23-4 West Subsection 5-1A championship victory against the No. 3 Hill City/Northland Storm Wednesday.

Sam Jensen was 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs, Jakob Murray went 2-for-5 and knocked in three runs, Joe Anderson was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Braeden Wangsness went 2-for-4 with a double and Bo Kruchten and Ridge Hunstad each notched doubles.
The win was the fifth in a row for the Huskies who during that stretch have tallied 77 runs.

ALEXANDRIA-Starting pitcher Mitch Boros and the Little Falls Flyers battled back from an early deficit but two sixth-inning runs gave No. 2 Alexandria a 7-4 win over No. 3 Little Falls in a Section 8-3A winners bracket game Wednesday.
Hunter Swanson led the way offensively for the Flyers, who are ranked 12th in Class 3A, with a double and two RBIs.
Boros gave up two runs in each of the first two innings but then held off the Cardinals as the Flyers battled back to bring the deficit to 5-4 after five innings, but the Cardinals put the game away in the sixth inning.
The Flyers will host No. 5 Thief River Falls Thursday.
Alexandria has won seven straight and is ranked eighth in Class 3A.
