DEER CREEK — Wadena-Deer Creek is going to state.
Zach Shaw scored the winning run for the Wolverines in the top of the ninth inning on an Evan Lunde bunt to give WDC 3-2 lead against Perham in the Section 8-2A finals Friday, June 11, in Deer Creek.
Tony Krelau pitched a clean bottom of the ninth for the Wolverines to get the 3-2 win.
With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the eighth, Perham’s Gage Germoius hit a fly ball to left that was caught by W-DC’s Isaac Hemann. Perham’s Ben Shumansky tried to tag to score the winning run for the Yellowjackets, but was thrown out on a relay play to force a ninth inning.

Lunde also ripped an RBI double which was a part of the Wolverines’ two-run fifth inning. Kreklau also picked up an RBI in the fifth.
Payton Rondestvedt pitched eight innings for WDC and struck out seven. Josh Dykhoff tallied two hits for the Wolverines in the win.
