Area Boys Basketball: Aitkin snaps Pequot Lakes’ winning streak

AITKIN — Mannie Ukutegbe tallied 20 points for the Aitkin Gobblers who defeated the Pequot Lakes Patriots 62-56 in a Mid-State Conference game Thursday, Feb. 13.

Kadde Hopperstad added 17 points and Hunter Nissen added 15 for the Gobblers who lost to Pequot 54-49 Jan. 21.

Bode Magnuson drained five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Patriots who had won seven straight.

Ty Swenson added 14 points and Griffin Decker finished with 11 for the Huskies who avenged a 64-60 loss to W-DC Jan. 11.

ONAMIA — Brady Raph paced the Pine River-Backus Tigers with 19 points in an 83-75 overtime win over the Onamia Panthers in non-conference play Thursday, Feb. 13.

Louis Bueckers added 18 points for PR-B followed by Brady Bristow with 15 and Champ Howard with 14.

The Tigers sank 9-of-10 free throws in the OT as they outscored Onamia 14-6.
