PIERZ-Michael Leidenfrost and Jonah Prokott led the Pierz Pioneers who were much hotter than the outside temperatures in a 65-50 Central Minnesota Conference win over the Maple Lake Irish Thursday, Jan. 31.
Leidenfrost hit 6-of-7 (85 percent) from the field to finish with 15 points and Prokott added 14 points while shooting 62 percent from the field. As a team, the Pioneers were 26-43 (60 percent).
Maple Lake came into the game leading the CMC with a 5-1 record. Pierz is now 3-4 in the conference and 7-8 overall. Maple Lake beat the Pioneers 55-41 Dec. 20.

NEW YORK MILLS-Spencer Schaefer scored 14 points, blocked three shots and collected 11 rebounds for the Pillager Huskies who defeated the New York Mills Eagles 61-49 in a game for second place in the Park Region Conference Thursday, Jan. 31.
Judah Beard scoerd a game-high 18 points for Pillager which lost to the Eagles 70-56 Dec. 15.
The Huskies are now 6-2 in the conference and 11-5 overall while New York Mills is 7-2 and 13-5 overall.
