Area Boys Basketball: Rangers rally to top Pillager

CROSBY — Dietrich Winegarner and Jordan Oehrlein each recorded 16 points to lead the Crosby-Ironton Rangers in a 71-64 season-finale win over the Pillager Huskies Friday, Feb. 28, in a Section 7-2A matchup.

C-I’s Carsen Turk added 13 and Dakota Mitchell drained four 3-pointers for 12 points. Oehrlein collected 10 rebounds.

Spencer Schaefer led Pillager with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Ty Swenson also finished with 17 points and Cole Hiltner contributed 12.

The Huskies led 42-31 at halftime, but were outscored 40-22 in the second.

Both teams finish the regular season 16-10.

LITTLE FALLS — Luke Kush recorded 22 points and 18 rebounds for the Little Falls Flyers who defeated the Foley Falcons 66-39 in Granite Ridge Conference play Friday, Feb. 28.

Alex Gwost added 12 points and Travis Wenzel finished with 10 for the Flyers, who beat Foley 72-43 Jan. 28.

ZIMMERMAN — Michael Leidenfrost tallied 14 points for the Pierz Pioneers who defeated the Zimmerman Thunder 72-57 in a Granite Ridge Conference game Friday, Feb. 28.

Peter Schommer and Jonah Prokott each added 13 and Brandon Stuckmayer finished with 12 for the Pioneers, who take an 18-8 record into the section playoffs.

Logan Backstrom tallied 12 points and Trey Ogren posted 11 points and five assists for the Hornets.
