PINE RIVER - Zach Struss scored 22 points and pulled down seven rebounds to rally the Pine River-Backus Tigers to a 71-66 victory over the Pequot Lakes Patriots in a non-conference game Monday night.
Henry Krecklau added 19 points, Hank Raph 16 and Konrad Bueckers 12 as the Tigers ralled from a 2-point halftime deficit to snap a 3-game losing streak.
"I am so happy for our kids tonight," Tigers coach John Riewer said. "It was a much-needed win for them, our coaching staff, school and community. It came at a great time for us. We just finished a 7-game road trip (2-5). This hopefully will give us some confidence going forward.
"Another quality opponent (Nevis) comes to town (Tuesday). We are looking forward to another challenge."
CJ Borleis paced Pequot with 20 points, Hunter Larson added 18, Brandon Hehir 10 and Connor Davich nine.
