Area Boys Golf: Erholtz medalist in Cardinals' victory

EAST GULL LAKE--Beck Erholtz shot a 72 to capture medalist honors and Tyler Helling scored an 82 to lift the Staples-Motley Cardinals to victory during Wednesday's Cardinal Invite at Cragun's Legacy Courses.

2 Patriots advance

PARK RAPIDS-Max Tangen of Pequot Lakes shot an 83, teammate John Marchwick carded an 85 and both players will advance to next week's section tournament after Wednesday's South Subsection 8-2A tournament at Headwaters Golf Course.

Dawson Lupkes had the low score for Wadena-Deer Creek with a 107 but does not advance.

The top three teams and top six individuals not on those teams advance to the section tournament.

PRB, 2 from Pillager advance

PERHAM-The Pine River-Backus team and Pillager's Brady Enneking and Isaac Thomsen are advancing to the Section 6-1A finals following first-round play at Lakeside Golf Course Wednesday.

The top four teams and next 12 individuals not on those four teams will tee off at Lakeside at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Brady Raph and Nate Brasel both came in at 82 tying them for third. Keenan Dahl carded a 92 and Tyler DeGrote 95 to round out the scoring for the Tigers who were second as a team, three strokes behind Ottertail Central's 348.

Enneking fired a 79 that has him second going into the final round, three strokes behind Pelican Rapids' Joe Stetz. Isaac Thomsen also qualified to move on for the Huskies with an 84.
