Area Boys Hockey: Flyers, W-DC both put up 5 goals

Both Little Falls and Wadena-Deer Creek were on the road Saturday, Nov. 27.

Little Falls 5, Monticello 4

ST. PAUL — Coltin Johnson, Carter Oothoudt and Hayden Johnson all registered three points as Little Falls exploded for a three-goal third period leading to a 5-4 victory over the Monticello Moose Saturday, Nov. 27.

Coltin Johnson put the Flyers on the board first with the game’s opening goal assisted by Oothoudt. Oothoudt’s goal tied the score 2-2 in the first, but Monticello answered 11 seconds later to take a 3-2 lead after the first period.

Matt Filippi scored two of the three goals in the third period and Hayden Johnson scored the other to be a 5-3 advantage.

DJ Kicker preserved the lead as he finished with 19 saves in net for the Flyers.

TWO HARBORS — Cole Woods and Evan Lunde each tallied two goals and Dalton Moyer finished with three assists as Wadena-Deer Creek stymied the North Shore Storm 5-0 Saturday, Nov. 27.

Connor Davis scored W-DC’s opening goal and Gunner Olson stopped all 10 shots he faced as the Wolverines outshot North Shore 31-10.
