BREEZY POINT - Goalie Matt Stangel picked up an assist on the Lightning's first score in Northern Lakes' 3-1 non-conference win over the Mora Mustangs Thursday.
Stangel slipped the puck to Nick Olson who went end-to-end untouched on a power play to tie the game at 1-1 in the second period.
Jordan Lelwica netted the game-winner at 9:32 of the third period and Austin Mesenbrink added an insurance goal with 2:46 remaining.
Jager Reed and Stangel split the duties in net with 16 and 25 saves, respectively.
Northern Lakes finishes regular-season play 10-15-0 and has won three straight and four of its last five. The No. 8 Lightning host No. 9 Wadena-Deer Creek (7-18) in the opening round of the Section 6-1A playoffs at Breezy Point at 1 p.m. Saturday.
