Area Boys Hockey: Lightning top Detroit Lakes 3-2

Two area hockey teams took to the ice Friday, Feb. 5.

BREEZY POINT — Caiden Kjelstrom netted the game-winning goal in the third period for the Northern Lakes Lightning who won 3-2 in a Mid-State conference game over the Detroit Lakes Lakers Friday, Feb. 5.

Kyler Couture and Ben Ouradnik also scored for the Lightning who have won six straight.

Goalie Adler Hoagland recorded 14 saves for the Northern Lakes which outshot the Lakers 23-16.

The Lightning remain unbeaten in conference.

Cathedral 5, Wadena-DC 1

WADENA — MJ Lunde netted the only goal for the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines who were defeated 5-1 by the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders in a Section 6-1A matchup Friday, Feb. 5.

Kade Woods assisted on the goal.

The Wolverines have lost five straight. They were outshot 18-10 with WDC goal Josh Dykhoff recording 13 saves.
