Area Boys Hockey: Lightning wins in OT

CROSBY--Junior Dylan Mesenbrink scored two goals, including an overtime game winner, to lead the Northern Lakes Lightnings to a 2-1 victory over Prairie Centre Tuesday.

After falling behind 1-0, Mesenbrink scored his first goal off an assist from Zach Spalj.

At 3:01 of the overtime, Mesenbrink notched the game winner.

WAHPETON, N.D.-Jake Dykhoff scored two goals seven seconds apart at the start of the game and finished with a hat trick to lead Wadena-Deer Creek to a 7-2 non-conference victory over Breckenridge/Wahpeton Blades Tuesday.

Dykhoff netted goals at the 2:02 and 2:09 of the first with Max Phillips assisting on both.

Dykhoff tallied the game's final goal on a power play assisted by Phillips and Preston Warren. Phillips finished with five points on a pair of goals and three assists.

Logan Robinson and Leighton Pettit also found the back of the net for the Wolverines.

Little Falls 3, Alexandria 3 OT

ALEXANDRIA-Ben Sowada tallied a pair of goals for the Little Falls Flyers, who battled Class 1A's seventh-ranked Alexandria Cardinals to a 3-3 overtime tie in non-conference play Tuesday.

Sowada's first goal pulled the Flyers to 2-1 in the second.

After Alex pulled ahead 3-1 in the third, Mario Filippi kept Little Falls in the game with goal assisted by Landon Johnson and Andrew Marod.

With 2:40 left in regulation, Sowada's second goal forced the overtime. A shot by Josh Jennings from the point bounced off the Cardinal goalie and Sowada punched in the rebound.

Flyer goalie Justin Pekula rejected 36 of the 39 shots he faced.
