Area Boys Hockey: Lightning, Wolverines battle to 3-3 stalemate

BREEZY POINT-The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines and Northern Lakes Lightning battled to a 3-3 overtime time in a Mid-State Conference game Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Max Phillips netted two goals for WDC, the second tying the game 3-3 with 1:08 left in regulation. Justin Dykhoff accounted for the Wolverines' other goal.

Shane Donovan scored twice and assisted on a goal by Kasey Couture for Northern Lakes.

Goalie Sam LeMieur recorded 30 saves for the Lightning who outshot the Wolverines 51-33. Josh Dykhoff had 48 saves for WDC.

LONG PRAIRIE-Josh Jennings recorded two goals and an assist for the Little Falls Flyers who defeated the Prairie Centre Blue Devils 6-4 in a game between Section 6-1A schools Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Also netting goals for the 4-2 Flyers were Lucas Rekstad, Robby Kuchinski-Helgeson, Nicholas Stevens and Ethan Ballou.

Little Falls outshot the Blue Devils 38-22 with Flyer goalie Dane Couture stopping 18 shots.
