Area Boys Soccer: Late goal lifts Flyers to victory

COLLEGEVILLE — Riley Perry broke through the defensive line and netted the winning goal for the Little Falls Flyers who opened their season with a 2-1 victory over st. John’s Prep in a Granite Ridge Conference match Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Alex Loukinen opened the scoring for the Flyers with a shot from 25 yards out at the 25-minute mark of the first half. The Johnnies answered five minutes later for a 1-1 tie at halftime.

Ben Rekstad picked up the win in net for Little Falls.

Lake Region 2, Willmar Christian 1

BAXTER — Jake Borders and Trey Ogren netted goals for the Lake Region Christian Hornets who opened their season with a 2-1 win over Willmar Christian in a Minnesota Association of Christian Schools match Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Hornets’ goalkeeper Josiah McGaffey collected nine saves to earn the win.
