Area Boys Soccer: McGaffey, LRCS open tourney with pair of shutouts

BAXTER - First year goalkeeper Micah McGaffey turned in a pair of clean sheets for the Lake Region Christian Hornets who rolled to 3-0 and 4-0 victories over Heritage and Trek North respectively during Day One of their Paul Bunyan Tournament Friday.

Lake Region 3, Heritage 0

Carson Moore netted a pair of second half goal sandwiched around a score by Tommy Thompson to give the Hornets a 3-0 opening win over Heritage.

The Hornets outshot Heritage 18-8 and McGaffey stopped all eight shots he faced.

Lake Region 4, Trek North 0

Tanner Wikstrom had a goal and two assists to lead Lake Region Christian past Trek North 4-0 Friday in their second game of the Paul Bunyan Tournament.

Tyler Ogren, Levi Jensen and Tommy Thompson also found the back of the net for the Hornets who outshot Trek 10-3.

The Hornets are 5-0-1 and were scheduled to take on Forest Baptist 11 a.m. Saturday in Baxter during Day Two of the Paul Bunyan Tournament.
