HIBBING — Top-seeded James Much of Aitkin finished in second place overall at the Section 7-1A Individual tournament May 27 and advanced to the state tournament.
Much won his semifinal match by the scores of 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the championship where he lost.
The No. 7 doubles team of Josh Hagesteun and Ben Harris lost their third place match 6-2, 6-0 and finished in fourth place.
Much is the first Gobbler to make state since Alex Anderson and Dan Klucas advanced there in 2012.
