MINNEAPOLIS - It was one place better for the Aitkin All Starz at Friday's state jazz finals at Target Center.
Aitkin placed third last year, but moved up to second Friday. The Crosby-Ironton Rangerettes placed fifth. Duluth Marshall won the state title after finishing second last season.
Jenna Bordwell and Madison Johnson from Aitkin and Mildred Ferrari and Kaylee Unzeitig from Crosby-Ironton were nominated to the Class 1A All-Tournament Team.
Aitkin is the defending 1A high kick state champion and will compete, along with C-I, for the high kick title 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
