Area Dance Team: Aitkin dances to victory

CROSBY--Aitkin swept the top-rankings by all five judges en route to a four-point victory over second-place Pequot Lakes in Thursday's Northern Lights Conference jazz meet.

CROSBY-Aitkin swept the top-rankings by all five judges en route to a four-point victory over second-place Pequot Lakes in Thursday's Northern Lights Conference jazz meet.

Pequot secured two second-place rankings, a third and a fourth. After throwing away the top and bottom scores, Pequot secured seven points. Crosby-Ironton finished third with nine points. C-I posted two seconds, a third and two fourths.

Pierz placed fifth and Pine River-Backus sixth.

"It was a great meet," said C-I head coach Amy Turk. "The competition is getting tougher all the time. We had a dancer out sick this week so we made some changes and I'm very proud of how our team came together. We had a couple timing errors, but overall executed a clean routine. We were only three points from Pequot and Aitkin performed a creative dance for first.

"Now we head to Hawley Saturday and host our show Tuesday. The conference championship is next Friday and Pelican Rapids Saturday so it's a very busy couple weeks and we'll continue to improve for sections."
