MAPLE GROVE - With a score of 337, Crosby-Ironton opened the season with a first-place finish in the high kick category at the Maple Grove Invite Saturday.
C-I was followed by PACT, Monticello and North Branch.
C-I's jazz team scored a 262 to finish third behind Duluth Denfield and Monticello. PACT was fourth and North Branch fifth.
"For our first competition of the season, we are extremely happy with our performances," said C-I coach Amy Turk. "We executed a nearly flawless kick routine with high energy. It is a fun Batman routine and crowd pleaser.
"In jazz, it is an emotional tribute once again and has come together.

"We will continue to improve the routines throughout the season. We are proud of how hard the girls have worked in the first month and so far it's paying off."
C-I will compete at the Apple Valley invite in December.
