VERNDALE-Luke Weniger ran for two touchdowns and Mac Schluttner ran for a third for the unbeaten Verndale Pirates who defeated the Bertha-Hewitt Bears 20-0 in a West (South 1) Subdistrict and Section 4 Nine-Man game Friday.
Both of Weniger's scores came in the first half on runs of 36 and 1 yard and Schluttner scored from 11 yards out in the third.
Quarterback Mack Jones led the Pirates ground game with 96 yards on 15 carries and completed four of 16 passes for 58 yards. Weniger carried 18 times for 87 yards.
