Area Girls Basketball: C-I’s Decent reaches 1,000 in loss to Lakers

CROSBY — Crosby-Ironton Senior Tori Decent scored her 1,000th career point for the Rangers in a 56-52 Mid-State Conference loss to the Detroit Lakes Lakers Thursday, Feb. 20.

Decent entered the game needing five points and finished with 13.

She is the third C-I player to surpass 1,000 points this year. Juniors Karli Nixon and Lily Peterson, who reach the mark earlier this season, finished with 13 and 10 points respectively.

LITTLE FALLS — Little Falls’ Taylor Jordan recorded eight points for the Flyers as they defeated the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles 29-28 in Section 8-3A matchup Thursday, Feb. 20.

Little Falls is 1-6 against section opponents, while Apollo is 0-10 with 11 straight losses.

The Flyers trailed 17-6 at halftime and outscored the Eagles 23-11 in the second half.

PEQUOT LAKES — Pequot Lakes’ Lola Rysavy posted 22 points for the Patriots as they defeated the Park Rapids Panthers Thursday, Feb. 20, in a Mid-State Conference game.

Afton Crocker added 10 points for the Patriots, who have won five straight. They beat Park Rapids 70-62 Jan. 14 for the season sweep.

PILLAGER — Juliana Ewald drained five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 21 points to lead the Pillager Huskies past the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels 65-61 in a Section 7-2A matchup Thursday, Feb. 20.

MLWR entered the game third in the South Subsection 7-2A standings and Pillager was sixth in the standings.

Sadie Hopman added 14 points for the Huskies while Jordyn VanVickle and Jenna Woidyla each contributed 11.
