Area Girls Basketball: Flyers advance to section semifinals

SAUK RAPIDS--Sarah Gold posted 15 points and Jordan Schuett added 14 for the No. 5 Little Falls Flyers who defeated the No. 4 Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm 62-51 in the quarterfinals of the Section 8-3A tournament Wednesday.

Little Falls is 18-9 and faces the No. 1 Alexandria/No. 8 Bemidji winner in the Section 8-3A semifinals 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Cloud State.

Melanie Dorn added 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Flyers who led 22-17 at halftime.

The win avenged a 49-48 loss to Sauk Rapids in the Flyers' season opener.
