Area Girls Basketball: Glenz scores 2,000th point for Verndale

NEVIS--Senior Shania Glenz became the first player in Verndale girls or boys basketball history to top the 2,000-point career mark when she finished with 14 points in the Pirates' 48-26 win over the Nevis Tigers in a Section 5-1A matchup Thursday.

NEVIS-Senior Shania Glenz became the first player in Verndale girls or boys basketball history to top the 2,000-point career mark when she finished with 14 points in the Pirates' 48-26 win over the Nevis Tigers in a Section 5-1A matchup Thursday.

Glenz entered the game 11 points shy of 2,000 and reached the mark with a six-footer early in the second half. She also had seven steals and sister Morgan Glenz finished with 11 points.

HINCKLEY-Olivia Lane scored the 44 points she needed to reach 1,000 in her career for the Pequot Lakes Patriots in their 85-18 Section 7-2A win against the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars Thursday.

Lane grabbed 16 rebounds and scored 28 points in the first half. She scored the remaining 16 points near the 5-minute mark of the second half.

Karli Skog scored 17 points and Corina Ruud added 10 points and six blocks to help Pequot record its fourth win in its last five games.

PLYMOUTH-Grace Imdieke collected 19 points and nine rebounds for the top-seeded Lake Region Christian Hornets who swept past the No. 8 St. Francis Patriots 56-29 in the quarterfinals of the Minnesota Association of Christian Schools state tournament Thursday.

Abby Grider finished with 16 rebounds, 14 points and four assists for the Hornets who are 21-2.
