Area Girls Basketball: Pequot advances to section final

DULUTH — Maci Martini scored 22 points for No. 2 Pequot Lakes in a 63-49 win over No. 4 Virginia in a Section 7-2A Semifinals Wednesday, March 4, at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Carly Chaney tallied 12 points and Emma Benson followed with 10 as the Patriots took a 12-point lead to the half and outscored the Blue Devils by two in the second half.

Pequot Lakes shot 13 of 15 from the free throw line.

They will advance to play the winner of No. 1 Esko/No. 2 Duluth Marshall in the Section Final on Friday, Mar. 6.
