Klefsaas, Koenig advance
SARTELL-Olivia Klefsaas and Hailey Koenig are both headed to the state tournament.
The Staples-Motley teammates finished in the top five for individuals not on the state qualifying St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders Tuesday at the Section 6-2A tournament at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course.
Klefsaas followed her opening-round 79 with an 82 Tuesday for a two-day 161, which landed her in a tie for second place.
Koenig shot a 92 Tuesday for a 180 for sixth place.

Stone, Nies return to state
BEMIDJI-Alex Stone and Amanda Nies punched their tickets back to the Class 2A state tournament after finishing in the top five individually in Tuesday's Section 8-2A tournament at Bemidji Town and Country.
Stone shot a second-place 158 after rounds of 77-81. Nies was seventh overall, but the top team and top five players not on that team advance. Neis shot 86-84 for a 170.
The top team went to Detroit Lakes, which fired a 643. Pequot Lakes placed second as a team with a 702.

Pequot's Bella Abear and Alex Nelson each finished with 187s to tie for 22nd.
Wadena-Deer Creek's Gabi Ross shot rounds of 87-92 for a 179, which tied her for 13th. Jess Rondestvedt placed 18th with McKayla Woods in 19th place.
