Area Girls Golf: PR-B’s Barchus headed to state

Pine River-Backus competed in the Section 6-1A tournament.

PERHAM — Hannah Barchus shaved 10 strokes off her opening round for a 97 Tuesday, June 8, and placed eighth in the Section 6-1A Tournament at Perham Lakeside Course.

The Pine River-Backus sophomore’s two-day 204 was good enough to land her a spot in the Class 1A State Tournament June 15-16.

Barchus fired nines of 51-46 for her 97 Tuesday, which was the sixth-best score of the day.

Teammate Cate Travis improved by two strokes Tuesday and finished 11th with a 216. Kassidy Bristow improved by three strokes and placed 20th.
